Fiscal Year Change

AUUF Vote to Change to Calendar Year Operation Basis

As mentioned in my “state of the Fellowship” address to the congregation in January, the Board has agreed to move our current operational year basis from a fiscal year of June 1 to May 31 to a normal Calendar year basis of January 1 to December 31.

One of the main reasons to do this is to make sure that we don’t make an error in complying with our minister’s retirement plan contributions under the normal tax / calendar year basis. Moving to a calendar year basis requires amending some of the articles in our By-Laws and that requires a vote by our membership.

This vote is scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 4, in the 11am service. Members who attend the early service and want to vote will need to be present at the end of the 11am service.

Hereare the Articles and Sections that need to be amended from their current wording to a Calendar
year time frame:

  1. Article V – Meetings: changing the current Annual Meeting for the election of Officers and
Trustees from March or April to September or October but no later than the fourth Sunday in
  2. Article VI – Elections: changing the time the Leadership Development Committee submits
nominations from the current third Sunday in March to no later than the third Sunday in
  3. Article VII – Officers and Trustees, Section 3: changing the date the new Officers take office
from the current date of June 1 to January 1.
  4. Article IX – Committees, Section 3: changing the date that Committee Chairs are selected
from the current date of June 1 to January 1.
  5. Article X – Financial: changing the fiscal year of June 1 through May 31 to be a calendar year,
    January 1 through December 31.

Thank you for your support in making these amendments.
