“The aim of education is the knowledge, not of facts, but of values.”
– William Inge

At the Amarillo Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, our mission is to provide a well-rounded, liberal religious education for all ages in an environment where they feel safe, accepted, respected, and happy.

We are asking for a group of dedicated adults to join us in volunteering once a month or more, for our RE year from September to May. Our training will be held on September 30 at noon. Hope to see you there!

We will begin our new curriculum cycle in September. Our RE team has been working hard to select programs that will be enriching and enjoyable, and support our children and youth at an appropriate developmental level. We will be offering programs at both the 9:30 and 11:00 services, as well as groups outside the traditional classroom setting. At our 11:00 am program, we will offer three groups: Nursery (infant, toddler, preschool), Elementary (kinder through 4th grade), and Intermediate (5th through 8th grade).

For our 9:30 am program, we will worship together as an all-ages children and youth classroom and focusing on stories that teach universal principles and values based on the book, “Everyone a Butterfly.”

Nursery will focus on stories that promote good social values of sharing, cooperation, feelings, and friendship.

Elementary will utilize the program “A Discovering Year” that will use games, crafts, and music to discover our Fellowship, friends, and families and ways to celebrate as a UU.

Intermediate will utilize the program, “Passport to Spirituality,” where students will “journey” to a new country each week and learn about spiritual practices from the religion the countries practice.

Teen Group! Beginning September 3, we will be offering a new group experience for 7th-12th graders. This group is set to meet from 12:30-1:30 pm on the first and third Sunday of each month. We will be exploring leadership skills and how to apply UU principles to our daily lives.

Youth Choir – the choir meets from 10:30-11:00 am on the second Sunday of each month to learn UU hymns and other fun songs. Our first time to share with the congregation will be October 8.

Youth Leadership – this group meets from 10:30-11:00 am on the last Sunday of each month to organize and lead social and educational activities with our younger students. Students in this group will also be helping with activities of the church such as sound, childcare, and potluck.

We invite you to review our Policy for the Safety of Children, which applies to all AUUF activities which involve children and youth.
